#columns

Posted on: 22 September 2025

Inspired by this Substack note by lina from columns about my own life – I lowkey want to start writing columns too.

I will be organising them with the #columns tag - well, once I figure out how to even utilise tags. My columns will be tangential thoughts, reminders to self, little snippets of life that establish extra context about what's happenign or what I'm thinking, occasionally written in third person, and generally intended for ideas that are too short/boring to be a full blog post.

Here is my first column, written at lunchtime from Envoy Cafe on an uneventful Monday where I’ve spent all morning pulling my hair out due to some "Tableau bridge issue".

“I’m really liking this initiative of bringing both my work and personal computer to the office with the intention to use my one hour lunch break to physically step away from the building, find refuge in a coffee shop, and work on my actual writing. It adds a great 2-3 extra hours of undisturbed writing time to the week and I find it happens best on Monday when I haven't been ensnared into the vortex of to-dos yet. A note to self though that I’ll pretty much exclusively use this time for drafting, editing, or reading work from other great authors. It’s the best use of undisturbed time, as opposed to administration or bug fixing of this website, which I already do enough of in my email-herding day job.”
