I officially passed my probation today. Not to toot my horn but the letter arrived on my desk two weeks ago and it was no surprise whatsoever, but I’m glad that I will be notably more difficult to get rid of.
There was a quarterly town hall today too where the CEO briefed the business about, you know, company financials and corporate strategy and HR programs and stuff. My place does a pretty good job with it. I’ve worked with this CEO before and despite or perhaps due to his stern and unflinching deneamour, he treats inclusion, retention and information-sharing very seriously.
I won an award too for one of the company organisational pillars of ‘Delivering on Commitments’, which, well I like to hope I do pretty well. I don’t know how the voting system works but I do think my actions over the last three months that involve crossing other teams has stuffed the ballot box in my favour. It’s not about the award or the recognition or the positive attitude though — it’s about the $100 gift card that comes with it which I will likely hold until I forget about it.
